2016 – Mummy Code to do list

I’m not a fan of ‘New year resolutions’ as such. I have never made them and I believe that there is always an opportunity to make a change without needing the excuse of a new year. However, I thought I would make a list of things I would like to achieve in 2016.  Just to see this time next year how many I have ticked off. I am sharing it with you all as you might want to play along, see if we can tick some off and make 2016 a good year.

🔹Take 5 or 10 minutes everyday just for myself – Watch something I enjoy or just sit in the sunshine. It’s so easy to get caught up with working, the kids, cleaning etc etc etc and forget about myself.
🔹 Walk more – with my family, dog, alone. My kids love going for a walk and this is perfect for me. I’m not into huge fitness goals but walking more can’t be bad for me right?
🔹Squat – do some squats everyday.  2016 will be my year of the toned booty.
🔹 Compliment someone everyday – If I don’t go out make sure I compliment my children or husband. If they are being ‘difficult’ find something that I have done well and compliment myself.
🔹 Think less – try not to think about things that haven’t happened yet. As an organised person I barely ever switch off and I need to think less and relax more.
🔹 Try a new recipe once a fortnight – It’s so easy getting stuck in the same routine of dinners. I will make something new each fortnight and will  have at least 26 new recipes under my belt this time next year.
🔹 Spend more time at the beach – I grew up going to the beach a lot, fishing, sailing and waterskiing. After seeing how much my kids enjoyed the sun, salty water and sand.  I want to be there making memories more often.
🔹Drink more water!
🔹Take less Panadol – by no means am I addicted but I find I reach for the panadol far too easy with any sign of a headache. Time to ditch it,  drink more water and relax so I don’t get a headache.
🔹Be present– it’s so easy to get distracted with technology, work, bills. I need to make a conscience effort to focus on just one thing.
🔹Host some amazing dinner parties – Everyone must get dressed up and have an amazing night. Since having kids it’s hard to catch up with friends. I want to do more of it.
🔹Spend less – I’m a huge impluse spender. I don’t need two packets of Grain Waves because they are on special at Coles, 18 different lipglosses or the new yoghurt just because the packet looks fancy. I will endeavour to put the shiny items down and save some more cash.
🔹 Have fun!!! – Kids really do know how to have a good time. I want to worry less about the washing, bills and mundane everyday stuff and enjoy life. I want the sun on my skin and a smile on my face.

Hopefully this time next year I will have achieved some (or all) of these things. I will be relaxed, squatting, walking on the beach and coming home to cook my new recipes at dinner parties that I am throwing with all the money I have saved 😂. Either way, all I can do is try. Feel free to share your new years list with me.

  1. I really enjoyed this post. Mostly because I have had my own little resolution list in my mind. I hate New Years resolutions as well, but I find myself saying, “I will do that more/less this year.” My number one resolution is never go to bed with dishes in the sink. Nothing ruins my morning like having dishes in the sink. Last night was the first night-so far, so good. I love your “walk more” resolution. I, too, am not big into fitness, but wish I was. It sounds like you live in a MUCH warmer climate than me. Happy 2016!
