Late last year I had my little lady Scarlett. When I found out I was having a girl I was so excited to start shopping and buy little girl clothes.
I like to buy clothes for my children in styles that I would wear, or in the case of my son something my husband would wear. There are so many stylish little boys clothes that are funky and really cute. However, little girls clothes are more of a struggle. There are some beautiful pieces but you really need to sift through a sea of pink tule, sparkles and over the top prints. I am a girly girl but I don’t believe just because you are a girl you need to live in pastel pink. What is wrong with blue, red, green, navy and bold prints that are not fairies or butterflies?
I found some amazing stores on Instagram that stock some great children’s clothes. Two of my favourites are:
Little Lion Threads:
Recently I purchased some great bright pink cheetah leggings from Little Lion Threads (@littlelionthreads) they are bright, beautifully made and wash well. Little Lion Threads was started last August all because a mama was frustrated with the lack of stylish clothing for her son ‘Wade the Lion’. Wade is a big help with the business and he is included in fabric selection and is one of the cutest little models you will find. All items are hand sewn and made with lots of love. Inspiration for the girls clothing line comes from Wade’s beautiful cousins. The style has a hippy, fun vibe. There is not a sparkle or frill in sight. The Little Lion Threads range is about to be expaded to include singlets so that is super exciting. I can’t wait to check them out.
B E H R & C O:
Little girls shoes are also quite over the top. I was searching for something a little different for Scarlett and came across B E H R & C O (@behrandco). They have amazing baby moccs with some really unique designs. I purchased some studded look ones and I adore them. They are so well made and beautifully designed. B E H R & C O was started by another talented mama. This mama began selling her amazing goods after being encouraged by her friends whom she had made things for. She quickly realised how many people were all doing the same thing and using generic Spotlight fabric. B E H R & C O stands out from the crowd as they have created a fabulous exclusive fabric range. All 100% organic cotton, printed here in melbourne. The leather moccs are Australian leather and also have stunning designs printed on them too. They stand for ethically handmade products, made locally in Melbourne Australia.
I’m extremely happy I have found stores like Little Lion Threads and B E H R & C O. My baby girl can look stylish, without looking like something that fell off a Christmas tree.
Please let me know of any funky brands that you love for your little girls.
